Grace Haugh – Professional Dog Trainer
Grace has always loved dogs— from Maggie, the golden retriever who was her best fuzzy childhood friend to her current dog Francis, a lab/german wirehair pointer mix with a few quirks. As a child she even loved reading books about dogs despite learning time and time again that the dog never makes it to the end.
Grace started volunteering at a young age at the Williamson County Animal Center and eventually trained new volunteers. She continued volunteering at the Humane Educational Society in Chattanooga while attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. At UTC Grace earned a degree in psychology which has proven to be a very useful background for training dogs and their humans. Over the past several years she has volunteered at Metro Animal Care and Control, led playgroups and deciding which dogs play together and managing interactions in the play yard.
As part of Canine Trade Group’s certification program, Grace studied the history of dogs and dog training and the psychology behind the methods used. On-the-job shadowing gave her the hands-on practice that prepared her for all types of training challenges including concerns like separation anxiety, aggression, and general disobedience.
